National Center for Injury Prevention and Control

The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, is the lead federal agency for injury prevention. The web site provides information on injury prevention programs and publications that can be viewed online or downloaded at no charge. In addition, the site contains WISQARS, an interactive data-base system that provides customized reports on injury-related data, such as motor vehicle accidents, homicide and suicide.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), under the U.S. Department of Transportation, is responsible for reducing deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. The web site has an area on Child Passenger Safety, an online fatality analysis reporting system, and national/state reports that can be downloaded at no charge.

Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety

This organization is an alliance of consumer health and safety groups and insurance companies that advocates for state and federal laws, policies and programs that reduce traffic related injuries and fatalities. The website includes a section on teen drivers with graduated licensing nformation and crash statistics, and also contains a state-by-state listing of policies aimed at reducing motor vehicle related injuries and deaths.

California Department of Health Services - EPIC

The EPIC Branch is the focal point for the California Department of Health Services’ injury prevention efforts. The three organizational units within EPIC are: Injury Surveillance and Epidemiology Section, Office of Disability and Health, and State and Local Injury Control Section. The website has injury data that can be customized by type and state or county. Publications are available to be downloaded or ordered at no charge.

CSN National Injury and Violence Prevention Resource Center

Children’s Safety Network works with health professionals and programs to: provide technical assistance and information, facilitate the implementation and evaluation of injury prevention programs, and conduct analytical and policy activities that improve injury and violence prevention activities in the United States. The website contains state profiles and publications that can be ordered at no charge.

National Safe Kids Campaign

The National Safe Kids Campaign advocates for the prevention of unintentional childhood and youth injury. This website contains safety tips, policy and research information, and links to State Safe Kids coalitions with information on each state’s safety laws and regulations.

The National Youth Sports Safety Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicating to reducing the number and severity of sports and fitness related injuries sustained by youth. The web site contains sports related injury information and publications can be ordered for a small fee.

Students Against Destructive Decisions

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions like underage drinking, drug use, impaired driving, teen violence, and teen depression and suicide.
