The resources are organized according to the health areas represented by the 21 Critical Health Objectives for Adolescents and Young Adults, including unintentional injury, violence, mental health & suicide, reproductive health and nutrition & physical activity.

Adapted from Towards Meeting the Needs of Adolescents: An Assessment of Federally Funded Adolescent Health Programs and Initiatives within the Department of Health and Human Services, this brief summarizes a review of DHHS-funded programs addressing health areas where American adolescents fare differently than their counterparts in other countries. The health areas include: Health & Well-being, Fitness, Family & Peer Relationships, School Environment, Smoking, Alcohol Use, and Violence. The review examines the federal-level focus on adolescent health, federal approaches to improving adolescent health, evaluations of adolescent health programs.
