Investing in Clinical Preventive Health Services for Adolescents (2001)
This document defines clinical preventive services for adolescents, presents professional recommendations, and examines the rationale for providing a comprehensive set of clinical preventive services to teens. It explores barriers to the delivery of this care, as well as promising strategies for reducing these barriers, and looks at the extent to which this care is now being delivered. Finally, using current trends and available cost analyses, this publication assesses the efficacy of providing these services within the current healthcare environment and recommends areas in which further research is needed.
Additionally, NAHIC’s sister center, the Public Policy Analysis & Education Center for Middle Childhood & Adolescent Health compiled tables that compare the recommendations of the major existing clinical guidelines for middle childhood and adolescence, identifying areas of convergance and differences for more than 50 topics.
