Safe and effective vaccines protective against COVID-19 infection are an essential tool for ending the pandemic. Concerns over vaccine acceptance, however, emerged even before any vaccines received FDA authorization.

In this context, the AYAH-NRC assessed young adult vaccination intention, and the top reasons why they may be hesitant to accept a vaccine, using Household Pulse Survey Data, a nationally representative survey initiated through the US Census Bureau and other federal partners.

With only half of the young adult population willing to become vaccinated, less than all older age groups, increasing vaccine uptake will require concerted efforts for this age group. Our findings may be utilized to tailor targeted, public health interventions to increase vaccine uptake among young adults.
