In 2002, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended that the entire pediatric population receive care in a medical home. Nearly two decades later, only 45% of adolescents attained this standard of care, according to a new Center analysis of data from the 2020-2021 National Survey of Children’s Health. Socio-economic disparities persist and those with mental health problems continue to have lower rates of care in a medical home.
