Sally Adams, PhD, RN, has served as the NAHIC Data Coordinator and Analyst for 15 years. In this role, she has provided statistical support for the development of NAHIC documents, including project resources and peer-reviewed articles appearing in the scientific literature. For our Adolescent and Young Adult Health National Resource Center, Dr. Adams provides expertise in monitoring health and health care indicators through accessing national data archives that provide national- and state-level estimates. She has co-authored 48 articles in the peer-review literature including trends in health indicators, mental health, health care access and quality, utilization, and content of care for adolescents and young adults. Prior to joining the NAHIC team, Dr. Adams worked on several UCSF intervention studies taking place in Kaiser Permanente that addressed systems change and pediatric provider trainings to improve the content of care delivered during adolescent preventive care visits within Kaiser. Other current research activities involve co-leading a clinical trial with Dr. Lisa Berens, testing improvements in maternal and infant oral health through brief interventions integrated into CenteringPregnancy® group prenatal care sessions. Dr. Adams has a background in the field of nursing, with an emphasis in psychiatric nursing and she earned her PhD and BS in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
