Adolescent and Caregiver experiences with telemedicine

Led by Dr. Angela Barney, former UCSF LEAH medicine fellow, UCSF investigators examined the provision of health care services to adolescents and young adults via telemedicine, with a focus on examining (1) disparities in provision of care and (2) experiences of patients and their parents, using quantitative date from Electronic Health Records (EHR) to identify patient characteristics associated with receipt of a telemedicine video visit and qualitative data from interviews patients (N=19) and parents (N=11) to assess experience of telemedicine services, comfort level with telemedicine for different types of health care services and experiences on confidentiality and privacy. A manuscript based on this analysis is under review at a peer-review journal.
