What Gets Measured Gets Done: Assessing Data Availability for Adolescent Populations

This paper provides an overview of the availability of data for specific adolescent sub-populations, such as rural and homeless/runaway youth, by the 21 Critical Health Objectives of Healthy People 2010. Academic and government literature was extensively reviewed using Internet search techniques to identify available national data for each of these populations on each key national health objective. Recommendations are offered to strengthen monitoring systems for subpopulations of adolescents.

The expanded tables include the data available for each adolescent sub-population by each specific 21 Critical Health Objective.
